Dr. Roe is interested in the treatment of acute ischemic heart disease including acute myocardial infasction and unstable angina pectoris as well as the long-term management of patients with established coronary artery disease. He is currently supervising prospective clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for the treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction, both for treatment during the initial hospitalization period and for long-term treatment after hospitalization. Also, he is helping to lead a nationwide quality improvement initiative sponsored by the American College of Cardiology designed to promote adherence to clinical practice guidelines for patients with acute myocardial infarction. Within this context, Dr. Roe is working closely with others at Duke University Medical Center to ensure and maintain top quality care for our patients with acute myocardial infarction both during the hospitalization and during the outpatient follow-up period in our cardiology clinics.
